For centuries, we relied on manual craftsmanship—like scribes copying manuscripts, or animators drawing frame by frame. Today, we have neural networks that can churn out 1,000 drafts in the time it takes to brew a cup of coffee.
The Tao of Generative AI
In Taoism, there’s the concept of “wu wei”—effortless action, or flowing with the natural course of things. Generative AI can sometimes feel like that: we provide a prompt, and the system “effortlessly” generates new possibilities. It’s not forced, it’s not painstaking. It just flows.
Yet behind that flow is the invisible work of huge datasets, training cycles, and billions of parameters. But to the end user, it appears almost mystical: “Type words, get entire cinematic script.”
